You must have heard these words like a million times and grooved on the beats of this music. She is looking like a “Patola” in her “Suit” and her “Outfit” is in “Fashion”.

Punjabi sensation Guru Randhawa is not just only ruling the blockbuster charts but also the hearts of millions of Punjabi music lovers. Guru’s hard work and his dedication has helped him make his way into the punjabi music industry and he is all set to turn on the fire with the bollywood version of his blockbuster hit “Suit Suit karda”. He is one amongst those artists who taste the flavour of success with their first song and then never look back. He has given the industry some great numbers to groove on including beautiful songs like “khat”,”Southhall”,”Yaar Mod De” and others. In a candid chat with Guru Randhawa we asked him about his tumultuous journey and he opened his heart out to tell us how blessed he feels today.

Is there any struggle from your personal experience you would want to highlight in the Bollywood or Punjabi Music industry?

When I started writing songs and doing shows, like any other artist, I faced quite a few hindrances. I remember the days I was being paid even Rs. 500 to do a show. That time I had some rich friends and they always used to say that I sing very well but it was disheartening that no one lent me a hand or supported me to come out of the shell, financially or otherwise. What ever I am today is all because I wanted to do what I did and at the end of the day, it’s only your family, which matters. So if you have any friends or anyone in your family whom you think has potential and sings well, instead of just motivating him, do something and act by helping him. One day you would be proud to see that person on the top. I wish I had that support but nonetheless I am proud of myself to have achieved this much.

Who/What is your Inspiration?

TV is my inspiration. I always wanted to be on TV and I am proud that I have pursued my dream. I have grown up listening to all the iconic singers from the Indian music industry and I have also heard a lot of international artists so as to take inspiration from their work. If you want to do something different, you need to do your research and come up with something that no one else is doing so that you have something concrete, which no one has done before. That is very important for any good artist.

What was the first reaction when you heard that your iconic song will be used in the movie” Hindi Medium”?

I was truly excited and overwhelmed. Working with Sir Irfan Khan and lending a song to his movie was truly amazing. I have great support from the industry and I believe that my fans will never let me down. I am an independent artist and it has been an exciting journey from Punjabi music industry to getting a name in Bollywood.

How has your life changed after the iconic” Suit Suit Karda”?

I think my life changed after the song “Proper Patola”, which was a big hit. Since then I have been quite popular with the masses and I am so glad that people love the content of my songs. That gave me immense inspiration. There has been no looking back since then.
