ZIRO FESTIVAL,ARUNACHAL PRADESH
Ziro, a village in Arunachal Pradesh is an adventure in itself, with crazy roads and almost no connectivity, lending the place an isolated, otherworldly feel. A curious and happy mix of Indie music with its indigenous dance and music forms go hand in hand. The Ziro held its fourth edition from the 24th to the 27th September the last year. Gigs are held by performers from all over the country. The bonfires amidst the serene backdrop is as amazing as the performances of artists like Shaa’ir n Func, Whirling Kalapas, Sky Rabbit, Lee Ranaldo & Steve Shelley(Sonic/Youth-USA) and many more. The 2015 artist lineup featured Prateek Kuhad, Side Effects, Run it’s the Kid, The F16s and Takar Nabam. Delicious treats for your belly, undoubtedly would be Rice beer served in a bamboo shoot, Peela, specially reared fish cooked in bamboo and Tukpa!
HORNBILL FESTIVAL, NAGALAND
The Hornbill Festival is often known as the Woodstock of the North East, giving you a Woodstock/Burning Man vibe from the place, with a combination of art, music, dance and culture culminating in a magnificent rock concert between bands all over the country. It is a state sponsored cultural festival, hosted by Kohima, Nagaland from December 1st to 10th 2015. This year it is only going to get better. Adventure car rallies, bikers and hippies all around, rice beer, is all a part and parcel of this festival.
SHIVA SQUAD, MANALI
Home to the regular psy artists, The Shiva Squad also hosts a live stage for bands playing post rock, blues and metal. It emerged from the psychedelic trance label that created it – The Shiva Squad Records. Hosted by Kasol, on the September end, this gathering is almost like a living theater infested with creativity and evolution to embrace the infinity. The music pump in your adrenaline, along with the exciting roads and strange wildlife, gives you goosebumps.
RAGASTHAN, JAISALMER
Ragasthan’s desert venue manages to create a truly unique experience for everyone. Three days of music, open air film screenings channelizing the vintage charm of the movies of sixties, dancing under the moonlit sky, is sheer bliss to experience, at the middle of the desert. It showcases Indian musicians as well as musicians from abroad. The gentle breeze, a cold bottle of beer and some fantastic artists like Narada-Deep Mantra, Skydrops, the Kabir Cafe, Run Pussy Run and lots more, will serenade you as the sun goes down!
VH1 SUPERSONIC, GOA
With the sand beneath your feet and the breeze kissing your face, the beach is a great destination for a fun filled festival. After Sunburn shifted its venue to Vagator, Viacom18 debuted the first VH1 Supersonic festival at Candolim,Goa, on 2013. This beach festival features EDM and is a perfect hub for party freaks. Onsite libraries, art installations, hippy markets and food stalls serving different cuisines are some of its major attractions, The big party at the end of December every year, features artists like Funkagenda, Carl Craig, Roger Sanchez, Delta Heavy and show stoppers like the Infected Mushroom. Crazy, happy souls liberated and felt the magic for the past three years.
