It was just one casual comment by superstar Salman Khan and there were a spat of hashtags; #InsensitiveSalman and his supporters with #SalmanMisquoted. But, what led to this?
He literally compared training for his new film to feeling like a ‘raped women’. It was that comment that left everyone on their guards, wanting an apology from him for such remarks. Discussing his training regimen: ‘When I used to walk out of the ring, it was actually like a raped woman walking out. I couldn’t walk straight’
The National Commission for Women (NCW) chief Lalitha Kumaramangalam reacted to extremes and quoted the actor to be “careless and irresponsible”. He has been given time to apologise in writing. With lists of hate posts on Twitter flooding the social media, it was father Salim Khan who posted a sorry note on behalf of his son, “Undoubtedly what Salman said is wrong, the simili [similie], example and the context… I apologise on behalf of his family, his fans & his friends. Forgiveness is to pardon the unpardonable or it is no virtue at all.”
However, as we quote, any publicity is good publicity. We don’t know how far this matter will be dragged, but his much awaited film Sultan all set to release on July 6, and this is certainly going to keep everyone upbeat and pumped up; be his haters or lovers.
