As summer has already arrived. Therefore, the layers of clothes are unfasten. The exposure time to sun is usually increased which is the major cause for all the skin problems in summer like heat rash , prickly heat, sun burn, photo dermatitis etc. Not only this, summer can also lead to multiple skin aging issue called photo aging. Yes you heard it correctly, skin aging can be accelerated and aggravated by sunlight. Sun radiations can give you worsen lines and wrinkles. In summer, the individual’s skin texture also gets changed. Particularly, In younger patients sudden changes like dry flaky skin turns into oily skin that is because of excess production of sebum , so its time to change the regime you have been following in winter. With excessive sebum your skin becomes more oily and with more oil production your pores get closed with oil and dead skin and further can lead to bacterial growth.

 Apply the Suitable Cleanser

Cleaning your face is very important in summers to remove excessive oil and dirt from your skin. We have to choose proper cleanser according to your skins need. Using wrong cleanser can also worsen your skin. People with dry & sensitive skin should use a mild cleanser as compared to people with oily skin. People with oily skin can also use blotting paper once or twice on the oily area only. Even for oily skin, you can’t do over cleansing as it may remove essential oil which is paramount.

Keep Your Skin Hydrated

According to your skin dermatologist use the prescribed moisturiser. There are many people who think if you have oily skin you don’t need moisturiser but it’s not true. As moisturiser is mandatory for everyone. Therefore, it gives a layer to the skin from the direct exposure. In summers we use very mild non comedogenic moisturiser which is non sticky and non oily. Moisturiser helps in hydration and keep the skin nourished, supple and plump making each cell hydrated. Hydrated skin is glowing which makes it more attractive.

Avoid Applying Excess MakeupWe should avoid heavy makeup in summer as due to heat makeup can melt and react. because of heavy sebum / oil production it has worsen the skin. The best thing I advice everyone is to wear a primer then very mild moisturiser with SPF and end with very light foundation, A good BB cream can also be applied. Waterproof gel eyeliner & matte lipstick can be used in summers.

How to Choose Suitable Sunscreen ?

Sunscreen is a highly debatable thing in the hot season. I would like to recommend you the most things to remember.

* Use broad spectrum sunscreen which means it protects from UVA and very as UVB.
* Use non comedogenic sunscreen which means it can’t cause comedones – blackhead and whitehead but clogging pores.
* Always wear sunscreen 20 minutes prior to sun exposure and make sure to reapply after 3 hours

Usage of Vitamin C

Vitamin C serum and VIT C supplement increases the immunity and helps body to fight with free radical that causes damage. Vitamin C also helps in VIT E production giving further protection to your skin in the hot weather. Vitamin C also helps in the production of collagen helps giving younger and plump skin, it also helps in the reduction of pigmentation , dark spots and melasma.Apart from these amazing benefits it also keeps the skin hydrated and improving skin texture tone and brightness.

Exfoliation – Is a must in summers !

Exfoliation is very important in summer . As we have discussed earlier that in summers there is excessive sweat and oil production. When we exfoliate we remove the dead layer of skin , excessive dirt , sweat, sebum , oil etc . There are people with dry and sensitive skin, for them I would recommend to meet their dermatologist and discuss about the exfoliator. The dermatologist will recommend a mild exfoliator according to the skin type. Normally I recommend exfoliating twice a week. When we remove this dead layer of skin, the skin becomes brighter. Make sure not to apply too much of pressure and avoid exfoliating in case of any redness or any rash or any kind of dermatitis.
