Rohit Bal, affectionately known as “Gudda,” was a towering figure in the Indian fashion industry. Born on May 8, 1961, in Srinagar, Kashmir, Bal’s journey began in the serene beauty of the valley. His family later relocated to New Delhi, where he completed his education at Delhi Public School and St. Stephen’s College.

Bal’s fascination with fashion led him to the National Institute of Fashion Technology, where he honed his skills and later returned as a guest faculty member. His career took flight in 1986 when he partnered with his brother Rajiv Bal to establish Orchid Overseas Pvt. Ltd. In 1990, he ventured out on his own, launching his first independent collection.
