As the autumn season kicks in and the winters are around the corner in our beautiful city, I have prepared a list of basic skin care hacks to prevent your skin from being dry and dull. Follow them diligently to keep your skin glowing this winter season.

1. Moisturiser

During winters, the cold air contains less water so it changes the texture of skin as well as skin pores gets shrinked. It also happens when we use lot of heater and blowers at home which cause additional loss of moisture causing flaky, itchy and dry patches.

Applying a proper moisturiser is very important.

Moisturiser should be applied when we wash our faces or after bath. As and when we wash, we wash off natural oil. People with extremely dry skin can apply moisturiser multiple times specially during night when the skin is in restorative mode.

2. Sunscreen

Sunscreen is very important as we see lot of cases with sun burn in winters.

People get very tempted for sun bathing as it’s very relaxing. However they don’t realise the time of exposure and normally they expose their skin without protection.

A proper broad spectrum sunscreen is very important to apply 20 minutes prior to applying sunscreen. A broad spectrum sunscreen is the one which gives protection from UVA as well as UVB.

3. Change the body wash or soap

One of the other reasons for skin being too dry is using string soaps which makes skin flaky.

We should avoid soaps which have salicylic acids or any alpha or beta acids. We should use milder skin friendly soaps or body wash.

Sometimes soaps applied on dry skin can cause allergic reaction such as erythema, readiness and itching. It is best to use mild oats body wash or simply use body wash for babies.

4. Hyaluronic Acid

Adding HA to your skin regime helps to hydrate your skin for longer times.

5. Vitamin C and E

These vitamins help the skin to boost collagen and elastin and helps to fight against free radicals in order to maintain and improve the skin barrier.
