Shangri-La New Delhi’s new immersive meal experience Le Petit Chef, is awe-inspiring. The dinner series, which debuted in July 2023, is one of the many iterations of the tabletop projection-based animated film found in hotels all across the globe and on a couple of different Celebrity Cruise ships. In the New Delhi edition, patrons on the Shangri-La’s 1st floor dine on five courses as they get a quirky lesson in Cooking led by the eponymic petite toque-topped Frenchman. To be clear, the character doesn’t do anything while you eat; each course is heralded by interactive animatronics, where the tiny chef seems to talk, cook and jump around your plate. For instance, after a section on origins of the modest tomato, you’ll eat a tart made with the flavoursome fruit as a comforting animation of an Aztec suspended farm is projected onto the table.

You’re not here just for the show—there’s food that’s waiting to be enjoyed along with Le Petit Chef’s story. Shangri-La’s Executive Chef Gagandeep Singh Sawhney delivers an appetizing dinner to complement the audio-visual gimmickry. The meal starts off with a French-style amuse bouche. The meal ends on a high note with a chocolate pot de creme that incorporates distinct ingredients from the lands Le Petit Chef journeys to

Is the experience worth it? It is, although it doesn’t come cheap. The food is delightful and implemented radiantly, even if the clarification of each conventional cuisine is a little too accurate, but it’s all the pioneering and immersive technology that makes this multi-sensory dinner, one that’s hard to forget.

Looking for a one-of-a-kind dinner? Then head to Shangri-La Delhi, where the hotel in partnership with skull mapping, a company based in Belgium brings Le Petit Chef: An Immersive Dining Experience to town.
