Delhi people are never shy to flaunt the bucks and has its fair share of rich brats who would get away with anything by flashing their fat ‘gaddies’ and bank balances. Whether it is getting away with hit-and-run cases or bribing, the city’s ‘bigde shehzaade/shehzaadis’ have done it all. And that too with élan.

MONEY TOO EASY?: The cause of the same is definitely deeper than just deep pockets. One of the most important things to consider here is that these young adults are born with a silver, rather golden spoon in their mouths. The rich parents, who are so busy expanding their dynasty, hardly get the time to get together with their children and have meaningful interactions.

As a substitute to all that love, affection and valuable time, the children are exposed to affluence and luxury from a very early stage

‘I AM RICH; I CAN DO ANYTHING’: A clear message for the common man here is that if you have your pockets full of wads of big bucks, you can get away with something as horrendous as even murder. Delhi seems to be bearing the baton of this thought process for quite a long time now. In fact, this entire extravaganza seems like an inherent virtue/vice (not sure which one anymore) of the city. Leading shallow lives since childhood believing that anything they want is theirs to have, Delhi’s brats have developed a sense of ownership of the very ground they walk on. Never having had to face the every day struggles of a common man, such people often suffer with a directionless, ambition-less existence that gets tired of partying, shopping and holidaying in some of the most exotic destinations. However, this is not to generalise that all ‘Richie Richs’ are the same.

Much-sensationalised incident is the Jessica Lal murder that took place in one of Delhi’s most happening hotel. The convict- now acquitted- Manu Sharma is none other than the son of a high profile politician

THE RUSH TO TRY EVERYTHING ILLEGAL: The country’s capital has always been associated with the brash and authoritative conduct of its people, who are more often than not the children of prolific industrialists, politicians, celebrities, etc. It is a commonly known fact that the poor and marginalised people are at the receiving end of such fits of ecstatic enjoyment. For example, there are regular car races held in the city for the rich owners of Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, Jaguars, etc by blocking roads for the common public just so they can get their dose of adrenaline rush.

Delhi’s nightclubs are swamped with minors splurging on drinks and drugs

The biggest thing lost in all this show-off business is a child’s innocence bordering on an exaggerated self-worth. Sadly, the truth is that all this extravagance and shallow existence is going to take these progenies nowhere but into a deep pit of dwindling hopes for any future.
