Q1. You’ve been credited with introducing a unique and experimental fashion sense to Bollywood. What drives you to push the boundaries of expected and conventional fashion choices ?

Well, I’m a Gemini and as a Gemini, I wake up as a different woman, every day. So, my style is different every day. And that’s why I’m so grateful to endorse a brand like Zoya. So, for every mood and every woman that I am, they have a piece of jewellery !

Q2. You’ve been credited with introducing a unique and experimental fashion sense to Bollywood. What drives you to push the boundaries of expected and conventional fashion choices ?

Well, I think you know, I’m surrounded by a brilliant team who kind of get me ready, who actually have a huge hand in giving me this persona…my stylist – which is my sister Rhea, my makeup artist Namrata Soni… I’ve been working with them since I was like 21 years old, and they have had a big hand in shaping my personality, especially my fashion persona.

Q3. As we enter 2023, what do you see as the most exciting jewellery and accessory trends for the year, and how do you plan to incorporate them into your personal style ?

I personally love rings and you can see that today I’m wearing four of them from Zoya! But I also think people are looking for distinctive jewellery – that is versatile and can be styled with different looks.

Q4. Sustainability and ethical sourcing have become increasingly important in the fashion industry. How do you ensure that the jewellery and accessories you wear align with these principles ?

Sustainability is important. When you wear jewellery from a brand like Zoya, you believe that the diamonds will be ethically sourced. But what I also like very much is how Titan takes care of its karigars and that’s also a very important aspect of the sustainability conversation.

Q5. Jewellery often plays a crucial role in completing a fashionable look. Can you tell us about your favourite jewellery pieces or accessories that you like to incorporate into your outfits ?

I’ve always loved jewellery. I think it elevates every look. When it comes to statement jewellery – one of my favourite pieces is this necklace that I am wearing. It’s called a Radiant Revelation, and has 508 diamonds cascading down to a central ruby. It’s very contemporary and versatile. So you can wear it with a saree like I am today, or I’d maybe wear it with a power suit. In terms of everyday  jewellery, I think solitaires are great. Zoya has a collection called My Embrace that I launched earlier this summer – it’s just great for everyday wear.

I personally love rings and you can see that today I’m wearing four of them from Zoya! But I also think people are looking for distinctive jewellery – that is versatile and can be styled with different looks.

Q6. Do you have any specific jewellery or accessory brands or designers that you particularly admire and enjoy wearing ?

Zoya!

Q7. What is your opinion on the new collection from Zoya i.e. ‘Her Becoming’ and how would you say this collection differs from the others they have launched so far ?

Zoya has been redefining the way fine jewellery is experienced in India with meaningful and beautifully crafted products. This collection is for instance inspired by Ikat, and celebrates a woman weaving a very unique tapestry of her own life. It’s a lovely thought that inspires the collection.

Q8. Zoya is known to offer a variety of products, it is said that they have something for everyone, is it this versatility that caught your eye or the craftsmanship that goes into making each piece ?

I think both! I think Zoya’s jewellery is really distinguished by its excellent crafting. This collection uses very rare cuts of diamonds – like trapezoids, Cadillacs and custom cut baguettes that are very difficult to source and to craft it into high jewellery that has such flexible fabric like fluidity is really an art!

Q9. Having a jewellery designer for a mother, you must have gained an in-depth knowledge into the world of jewellery and accessories from a young age. Would you say that she and her work in the field have shaped your point of view towards accessories and their utility ?

Most certainly! I think a lot of my love for fashion and jewellery comes from her.

Q10. Sonam, thank you for sharing your insights on all things fashion and glamour. Is there anything else you’d like to add or any message you’d like to convey to your fans and followers ?

Wishing all your readers a very Happy Diwali!
