Zetu, the Sri Lankan restaurant nestled beneath the old banyan trees of Mehrauli, introduces Hopper Night, a weekly Tuesday dining experience celebrating one of the island’s most beloved culinary traditions. Bringing together freshly prepared hoppers, flavourful Sri Lankan curries and an intimate candlelit setting, the experience offers a reason to slow down and savour the evening.

A Little Island Ritual in the Heart of Delhi

At Zetu, the setting is as much a part of the experience as the food. An open-air courtyard sits beneath towering banyan trees, with candlelit tables, terracotta arches and a rooftop overlooking the surrounding greenery. Away from the usual pace of the city, the restaurant offers a setting where dinner can unfold at its own pace, with good food, easy conversation and an atmosphere that encourages guests to linger.

Hopper Night reflects this philosophy, transforming an ordinary Tuesday into an occasion worth looking forward to. At the centre of the experience are warm, freshly made hoppers, distinguished by their crisp, lacy edges and soft centres. A staple of Sri Lankan cuisine, these bowl-shaped pancakes provide the perfect accompaniment to a selection of curries inspired by the island’s rich culinary heritage.

The menu features Negombo Black Pork, Chicken and Prawn curries, alongside Cashew, Jackfruit and Pineapple preparations. Each feast is served with Zetu’s signature Sambol and Chutney Atlas, bringing together an assortment of accompaniments that complement the flavours of the meal.

To complete the experience, guests can enjoy a complimentary beverage of their choice: a zero-proof drink, a bottle of beer or a glass of house wine.

More than just a weekly dining offering, Hopper Night is an invitation to experience Sri Lankan food culture in a setting that feels distinctly removed from the everyday. With its thoughtfully curated menu, relaxed outdoor ambience and emphasis on the simple pleasure of sharing a meal, Zetu brings a little of the island’s spirit to Mehrauli, one Tuesday at a time.
