Moong Matar ki Khichdi- Rice and whole moong cooked  to make a delicious khichdi.

INGREDIENTS

  • ¾ cup whole green gram (sabutmoong)
  • ¾ cup shelled green peas
  • 1½ cups rice, soaked
  • 3 tbsps pure ghee, Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 10-12 black peppercorns
  • 10-12 cloves
  • ¼ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 inch ginger, 5-6 garlic cloves

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

Heat a rice cooker on cookmode. Heat 3 tbsps ghee in it.

Step 2

Add cumin seeds, cinnamon, black eppercorns, cloves, carom seeds and mix and saute till fragrant.

 

Step 3

Add green grams, salt and green chillies. Cover and cook.

Step 4

Roughly chop together ginger, garlic and green peas in a chopper and add to the cooker.

Step 5

Drain and add rice and mix. Add 6 cups water, cover and cook till done.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
