The General Sparrow Cup, which is four-goal tournament, as is tradition, marked the commencement of the Delhi Spring Polo Season 2023. The competition began on February 14, 2023, with seven teams separated into two pools.
Delhiites Polo powered by Silver Arrows, spear headed by polo legend Angad Kalaan included a great line up of polo players like Gaurav Sahgal, Akshai Malik and Amar Singh. The players made a stylish entry onto the field in the extremely elegant and powerful Mercedes EQB, EQS and GLB, provided by Silver Arrows.
The team started their campaign against ASC with a thumping 5 goals in the very first chukker to make their intent clear from the beginning. The second chukker also belonged to Delhiites as they extended their lead by adding a couple of more goals to the kitty, including a beautiful solo display by Angad Kalaan.
The third chukker saw a great fightback from the ASC team as they scored 5 goals to complete their tally to 7, however Delhiites Polo managed to edge past with the final score reading 8 goals to 7 in the favour of Delhiites.
Angad Kalaan led from the front by scoring 5 goals followed by Akshai Malik who added 3 goals to the total. It was a great outing for Delhiites as a team with experienced players like Gaurav Sahgal anchoring the game.
The team will next lock horns with the Navy polo team on Saturday in order to book a berth for the finals on Sunday!
